Attitudes in Email Writing– Number 3 Is The Most Important Point
I find out this secret when I participated in an E-mail Effectiveness training at English Today Bandung. What are the details that you need to pay attention to? Read through this article to find out the answer.
- Express your helpfulness in your emails
Everyone likes a helpful person. When you are genuinely helpful and you give the impression that nothing is too much trouble for you, you create much goodwill. This attitude is much easier to express to someone when you are directly talking to them. However, there are some phrases you can use to demonstrate an attitude of sincere helpfulness, such as the following:
“If there is anything I can do, please do not hesitate to let me know.”
“I will be pleased to do all I can to help you.”
“Your request will be given my personal attention.”
- Give sincere praise in your emails
Praise is inevitably something we all like to hear about ourselves. Therefore, you can insert a little praise into an email. This will also help to create goodwill. Here are some phrases you might find useful:
“We are most grateful for your assistance.”
“We very much appreciate the help you gave us in this matter.”
“You certainly did a good job on our behalf.”
- Always try to be polite and pleasant in your emails.
Always try to phrase your emails so that they do not cause offence, even when adopting a firm tone. Rudeness is unnecessary and bad for business. For instance, see how rude this sentence is:
“Your company is so bad we will never deal with a lot like you again.”
Instead of using the sentence above, there’s a much better way of expressing the same sentiments:
“Because you have been so unreliable, we regret we shall not be able to continue doing business with you.”
